For Care Homes
Our performances aimed at adult groups explores the relationships between different characters who have variously experiences hurt and let-down, and how community and friendship supports them. The audience members are able to engage in both groups discussions and individual discussions after the show.
What we offer
During our visit, once we’ve settled in and met the residents, we provide:
A group warm up
To get audience and ready to watch, listen, and sing
Performance of Spark
Ranging from quiet duets to whole group ensembles, the show explores the value of community to heal feelings of hurt
Post-performance discussion
Inviting participants to reflect on what they’ve seen both in a group discussion and in individual chats with members of Hold the Drama
All of us in Hold the Drama have worked in care home and dementia-friendly settings all over the country, both with this group and in our freelance lives. This includes work with Wigmore Hall’s Music for the Moment programme, Glyndebourne Opera’s dementia choir, and Queen’s-Award-winner Voices across Time.
We understand that sometimes residents don’t need a ‘show’ but rather a responsive musical engagement with the performers in the room. We are experienced in reading the dynamic and meeting that need.
