Clíona is a Cork-born cellist based in London. She began playing the cello at the age of four and when asked about her decision confidently declared sitting down to be the main motivation. Despite this Clíona’s love for the instrument grew and she moved to the UK to study and further her love for Chamber Music, Teaching and Community music-making.
Chamber music has been a passion of Clíona’s from a young age. She has played with various sized ensembles playing both classical and pop music. With this groups, she has performed at Wigmore Hall, St, John’s Smith Square, St Martin-in-the-field’s and on 6music. She records for producer Wilma Archer regularly, most recently on Nilüfer Yanya’s album My Method Actor.
Clíona is also passionate about music education, she has worked for the charity UK Music Masters since 2017 and is a Suzuki Method teacher. She believes that all children should have access to explore the world of music making in whatever form that may take.
