Frances’ dream of playing the trumpet lasted for just one week before she was steered towards the lesser known tenor horn, and finally the French Horn at the age of 8. She has never looked back!
With diverse musical interests, Frances performs with a wide variety of ensembles, including the pit orchestra for the Lion King (Lyceum Theatre), The Heritage Orchestra (including with artists Raye and Nas), Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics, Love Actually in Concert, the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, Buck Brass and the Blues and Roots Ensemble.
Frances completed her undergraduate studies at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, before attending the Royal Academy of Music for her Master’s degree and Open Academy Fellowship. She has performed with a number of distinguished conductors including Seymon Bychkov, Sir Mark Elder, and Robin Ticciati, and recorded with Marin Alsop.
At the heart of Frances’ career are music education projects. Alongside playing for such projects, Frances also enjoys producing and project managing them. She is Learning & Development Producer for the London Musical Theatre Orchestra and project manager for Thinking Music.
Away from the horn, Frances enjoys choral singing, dabbles in P-bone playing and can often be seen on a netball or tennis court.
