Frances Leith

Frances’ dream of playing the trumpet lasted for just one week before she was steered towards the lesser known tenor horn, and finally the French Horn at the age of 8. She has never looked back! With diverse musical interests, Frances has performed with a wide variety of ensembles, including the pit orchestra for the Lion King (Lyceum Theatre), the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, and alongside the rock band, Procul Harum. Frances completed her undergraduate studies at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, before attending the Royal Academy of Music for her Master’s degree. She has performed with a number of distinguished conductors including Seymon Bychkov, Sir Mark Elder, and Robin Ticciati, and recorded with Marin Alsop. She is also a member of the chamber ensembles Buck Brass and the Coriolis Wind Quintet. Alongside playing, Frances enjoys teaching, academic tutoring, and leading and assisting in educational projects. The latter has included work with the BBC Proms, English Touring Opera, and Wigmore Hall. Away from the horn, Frances enjoys choral singing and the piano, dabbles in P-bone playing and can often be seen on a netball or tennis court.
