Stripes

Stripes follows six musicians as they discover what it means to be an individual and to find their own voice in a group. The show explores themes of friendship, empathy, resilience, identity, difference, change, and respect.

Aimed at younger audiences, whether in schools or with their families, Stripes gives children the opportunity to engage with music and physical drama while connecting with emotions and scenarios they may have experienced or observed in their lives.

Thanks to its non-verbal presentation, we often get particularly strong responses from children who are reticent to share their perspective in other settings. These are just a few comments from children who’ve seen Stripes:

“I learnt that I don’t have to fit in. I can follow my dreams.”

“Stripes changes how I think about other people because now I let people be as different as I let myself. I did that before but now I can do that more and treat people better.”

“You don’t have to do what everyone else wants. Follow your heart and do what’s right for you.”
